Forgive me if this has been covered here before, but I'm a newb....and I suppose this is what newbs do. I've always had a love affair with a :bowtier: all my life, but I'm only twenty seven. I have a feeling there are those here that probally bought a 55', 56', or 57' brand new. I'd love to find out if thats the case and see just how this place stacks up.

So, what age range do you fall into?

Yes, there was a poll a while back on age. I bought a fairly new 55 2 door post in 1957 with less than 20,000 miles.

I resemble that remark. My Dad bought a new 57, I was only 10 when they came out. Got my first one in 62, wish I still had it. Maybe I learned something with age, I will hold on to this one.
There are plenty of old farts on here. I have owned my 57 since 1968. I bought it from the original owner and am now 64. Glad to see some Young Blood in the hobby.

Here's the previous age poll with 1,079 voters. ..... http://www.trifive.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16888

My dad bought a new 55 Chevy V-8 wagon and my brother and I would take it to Yellow Belly drag strip instead of where we said we were going. We liked it so much we both bought a 55 Chevy as soon as we could afford one, so we had three 55 Chevys in the family at one time.

I'm so old I can remember a world before trifive Chevrolet... They never built cars (for civilian use) the year I was born(1945) I was 10 years old when I saw my first trifive Chevrolet and I have owned the one I have now since Pear Harbor Day 1990... Later, Dave

accessory to the 1955 Model

I was born as a end run accessory to the 1955 Model. Remember taking beach trips in a 56 4dr. Gave my first input on trade in value of car about 5 or 6 years old, when I pointed out to Dad and the salesman that dad was try to work a deal with, that dads 56 was leaking oil. :sign0020:

I'm a bit older than you Samurai. Before you were born, I'd owned all Chevrolet's- 1-53, 1-56, 1-56 truck, 1-57 convert. 2- 57 race cars, 1-60, 1-63 SS, 3-Corvette's, 2-El Camino's and a Tahoe. Some might say that I'm an old Chevy guy.:sign0020:

There have been/are more, but that was after you were born.

Edit: Oops, forgot a 67 truck and my other 3 race cars. (a Corvette and 2 Nova's.) Old age thing again. ;o)

Ah yes, the "I wish I kept my first car" My dad always said that with respect to his Model A. I bought my 55 chevy in 1965 and kept it ... albeit in my dad's NH barn with dirt floor. Now working on it to restore it. Here it is going to off to the shop for major work on the frame and floor.

I bought mine in May 1986 when I was 13.
Great aunt bought the car new and I bought it from her when she was going into a nursing home.

:) I'm 65. To put that into perspective...... President Kennedy was shot on my 16th birthday.

Started out stuffing early hemis into a Henry J and then early to mid '50s Fords.

My first Chevy was a black '39 coupe with a '37 floor shift transmission. Then a black '52 2 door sedan with a '56 265 power pack engine, 3-speed OD tranny and 4.11 rearend. My first '55 - '57 Chevy was a black '55 business coupe I purchased in 1970. Since then, I've had several '55s, a '56 and now have a '57.

Happy Motoring,

Harry

I had my first 55 when I was 17, in high school shop I put a 348 in it. That was in 1964 ,It was a white convertible. My age is 66 and since that time I have managed to destroy every component of an automobile.

First TriFive

I was 16 in 1963. I tried to convince my folks to let me buy a 57 Belair for $350.00. Car had a 283, 2dr hardtop, turquoise & white. They didn't go for it.

Two years later I was in the service and was able to buy a 55, 210 two door, straight six, black for $35.00 from a guy going over seas.

It took me until last year to get the car I wanted when I was 16 (not the same one though). Love these cars.

Glad to see some one young getting into this hobby:tu:tu

John
