It depends on a few things , one quality and two how much heat there subjected to. On my Dually they said to expect to replace them very often and at $130.00 dollars I will spend the time to heat sheild them so I can stretch that out some .
We use Taylor wire on most of our hot rods and they seem to last . They are not to pricey around $80.00 a set and Summit and Jegs may have them cheaper.
What type of ignition system are you using ?
If your engine runs smooth under acceleration, but misses when cruising, I think I's suspect timing or fuel. Does it ping when you gas it? You may want to check your plugs as well. I had a similar problem running Accel plugs and went back to AC Delco. Also, if you don't have a fuel pressure regulator, you may consider installing one.
