Recently we saw the cowl tag of a 55 coupe, and it had "special" stamped on it. What does that mean?

The coupe seemed to have a convertible interior in it. Could the car be special ordered with a different interior, or was that just a coincidence and someone put the wrong interior in the car?

thanks!

The "SPEC" stamped in the cowl tag seems to be meaning less and less these days. It was used for things like special paint (like a color other than was on the chart ie military O.D. green, telephone company etc.)

I suspect the interior was redone in a different than factory material. I did my sedan in convertible material.
