At a recent swap meet I finally got a really good looking bezel and gauges for my 56. However my old speedo cable broke so I ordered a new one. While waiting I went to the local parts store and picked up one that was 83" long, The proper one I ordered is 69". The question is the speedo is jumping all over the place, do you think this is due to being too long and curving around or should I take it out and grease the cable ? The temp gauge is going straight to hot but I believe that's a connection problem. I have to order new wires.

speedo head probably needs to be lubed.

Thanks for the response, I do however notice all kinds of opinions on what lubricant to use. What is your suggestion for the speedo head and cable?
