It appears I have a square singal flasher, Tung-SOL # 852/5x. Is this rare or common? I'm looking for a new flasher and I can only find the cylindrical version. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I just purchased the car (55 Nomad) but it looks mostly stock with a few new things thrown int to spice it up. There is a yellow and a pink wire in a dual female connector going into the male pronged flasher (that sounds too funny.)

That does sound funny. I'm pretty sure the standard (not heavy duty) round flasher will work fine as long as its prongs line up with the female connector.

Not sure on the number....However, it may be an electronic flasher and not the original thermal flasher....Does the car have LED parking or tail lights?

No LED. Parts store says the squre version is a HD version. I tried a new cylindrical flasher, but still no turn signals. Parking lights work, but no turn signals.

The flasher these cars came from GM with was square so it is probably still original or an early replacement. :smile:

There about a third the size of a round one, I don't see how they could be heavy duty.
Mine was a Signal Stat ZN232-12v.

The squre one is twice as large as the cylinder one.
