So I just finished up installing a strange S60 rearend in my 4 door wagon. Suppose to be bolt in, there is even an article in a magazine where they did this. I lowered the car down today and the rearend rests on the gas tank! Anyone ever done this swap? How do I over come this? Even if I beat on the tank I'm not sure I would really have any suspension travel.

I know with a 9 inch, the wagon has to have a centered differential. I don't know what you got or if it is the same issue......If you use a standard 9 inch housing, it will not fit in the tank curved area.

Is the axle in the right place to get the right wheelbase ?

Is the wagon floor is different and the article shows the axle in a sedan, hence the problem ?

My 55 2 dr Sedan had a wimpy 9 inch track lock and I dumped it for a Dana 60powerlock, this must be a wagon only issue.

Space is really limited between the stock housing and the tank . I went with a CPP tank ,removed the stock tire well and now have plenty of room for my Currie 9" and a stabilizer bar.

Totally different animals, when it comes to fuel tanks/location.
Sedan vs wagon.
