Well, the pinion seal was leaking (again) in my '56 so this time I took it to the local transmission/rearend guru to get it replaced. I also told him to replace the rear wheel bearings since one of them seemed to be making more noise than necessary. Surprise! There is no crush sleeve ! Obviously someone forgot to put one in there the last time it was exposed. Duh! Then another surprise. The '56 wheel bearings from the parts store would not fit. It seems the differential is out of a '57! I guess it's no big deal, but now I wonder how many different cars did it take to put this one together. Well, it is a big deal. The '57 wheel bearings are a lot more expensive than the '55-'56 wheel bearings!:sign0020:
