Last summer was my first with my '57 Chevy Convertible. I participated on August 9 in the Camp Quality Night in Frankfort, IL. There were 119 classic and collector cars participating. We met at the Trolley Barn and traveled with a police escort to Camp Manitoqua. Sixty-three children, all living with some stage of cancer or cancer remission came out with their companions and proceeded to choose their favorite car. One particularly amazing girl immediately pointed to my car and asked if she could ride in the car. We had her sit up on the boot (along with her companion for safety) and taught her the "parade wave." Police sirens blaring, all 119 cars traveled in a caravan to the Trolley Barn to be treated to any treat they wished to have at the ice cream store. The townspeople were there handing out gifts and wishing us well. This was paid for by Dave Wilson and his wife who are members of the Frankfort Car Club.
To see the happiness and excitement in the eyes of the children showed the children that they mean more to us than any car we could ever own. It was an indescribable experience.
