I have a 57 283 with a 2GC carb. The book calls for 8 BTDC. I live in Denver at aprox. 5200 feet. How should I adjust the timing for the altitude?

Don't know how it runs currently however you might have to start by addressing the fuel mixture. It may be that at that altitude it may be necessary to tweek the carb. jets. An infrared analyzer will tell you. The timing would be set after that. Make sure all the other "tune up" related factors are in line, such as: compression test, dwell, plug gap and condition, plug wires etc.
