After putting a few hundred miles on this combo, I realized something was wrong!!. Clutch pedal effort was just crazy. Pulled the trans.and found the pivot ball was out of adjustment (thought I had it right, Lakewood scattershield, adjustable pivot ball). Installed new pivot ball and new fork(which was 1.5 in. longer overall). Clutch pedal effort now is very close to a hydraulic unit I feel. Such a pleasure to drive now. No more sore ankle or hip lol. Trans. shifts like a dream.

I'm planning on putting one in my 57 behind a L83. It's not hydraulic?

How is the transmission to tunnel clearance? What shifter position? Bench seat?
I would say I have at least an inch to go up, and side to side , more than I would ever need. The engine and trans. are at 3.6 degrees down at the rear, measured at the harmonic balancer. Shifter is in the rearmost position. I have buckets. I fabbed an offset bracket , similar to the Tri Five shifter used for bench seat applications that would work for anyone with a bench seat before I installed buckets. But the TKX offers 2 other mounting options anyway.

Thanks Larry. That's good information.

I'm doing a big block swap. I will be using the stock bench seat and farthest forward shifter location. Bought the TKX and shifter from Silver Sport Transmissions. Installation of the shifter requires removing the tail housing and cutting the end off two of the shift rails. Not a super easy job but it will put the stick well forward of the bench seat.

I'm currently in the mock up stage making sure everything fits before paint and final assembly.

A possibly simpler solution. A "Z" bar. Vertical (3/8x 1-1.5 flat bar) which bolts to the shifter handle, horizontal offset bar, whatever you need to clear your seat, and another vertical piece to mount the shifter to. I also welded two 3/4 x 3/4 triangular gussets where the vertical and horizontal pieces met. Ran that for 4 years when I still had the bench in my car. No issues. And it's all hidden under the shifter boot.

Some more info. for those doing this swap. For those not buying a complete kit, speedo gear and driveshaft yolk are(31 spl.) Ford C6 stock parts. Most kits come with a 1310 yolk, be aware if you have a 1350 joint!. Also, being a GM guy, I didn't realize Ford offered the yolk in two different sizes. 1.88 in. and 1.66in.You need the 1.66 dia. yolk. Hope this helps
