Gents,

In my 57 truck with a 235 with a one-wire alternator, the amp meter in the dash, and the after market volt meter under the dash jumps around a lot. It's typically around 14v as expected, but spazzes out +/- 2 volts when on the pedal. It does jump around a bit at idle, but not nearly as much as when driving. It's been like this for quite some time (at least a year), and I've never had a problem with a dead battery.

Looking for some troubleshooting tips.

Thanks,
PW

Why are you running amp meter? With a volt meter check at the battery to see if it is stable. If stable and correct voltage, may have loose connections or wires, or bad gauge.:anim_25:
Thanks - The amp meter is part of the original gauge cluster, and I added a volt meter under the dash. I"ll check at the battery with a multimeter and post results.
