Like a lot of you guys, my dogs are big part of the family. 60 days ago I lost my dog Max: http://www.trifive.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103071
Was a tough 6 months while he was ill and I was fit to be tied. Between work and the ranch, just wound up...When Max died the wife booked us a vacation to get me away for a bit to unwind... Got back last night and my female shepherd isn't acting right. We pay someone to stay here at our house with her to keep the stress low on her. She's been pretty stressed since Max , (her brother) died.
Well, took her to the vet today and she's been diagnosed with congestive heart failure... This just kicks me in the gut. Obviously congestive ert failure doesn't happen overnight. The vet thinks the stress of Max's death and us leaving her while we were on vacation made her symptoms worse. She has alot of fluid in her abdomen. We have an appointment next week with the same specialist that treated Max..
Sorry for the rant, I realize that there are a lot of people dealing with much more serious issues than this. Just helps to rant somewhere...
We had just made the decision to get a German Shepherd puppy, he was born a few weeks back and was to be ready in Mid July. Now I am not sure I want to even go down that road.
Thanks for listening. Gotta get a hold of that darn boot strap, just tough to find it right now.

I wish the best for your dog.

6 months ago we had a 14 year old dog, a 16 year old cat and an 8 year old cat. Today we have none of them.
First we had to have the old cat put to sleep, then our dog died. 2 weeks ago our last cat just walked outside to do her business and never came back.
I'm really not a cat guy and I miss my dog terribly still, but our house is so empty now.
I want another dog eventually, but I'm just not ready. It's weird how much they affect your life.

You are right, it does help to rant a little!

Good luck to you

I know the pain you are experiencing. I love my dogs too. CHF is treatable to an extent and I hope your dog responds. Prayers and love sent your way.

Sorry about your loss. I like animals and have had some in the past. I presently don't have any. Guess I'm kind of selfish. They require a certain amount of time and attention and I'm not ready to make that committment at this time. Maybe in the future. I also know you can get really attached to them. I've had a few that died and it broke my heart. Very upsetting.

dcs13 and BelRay,

Sorry to hear about the hardships you're
going through with your pets.
We've got a dog(Kayla) and a cat(Chevy)
and we loathe the day when they won't be
with us anymore. They're both in good health
now,and we hope they stay that way for a
long time.We love them to death,so we can
really relate to what you're going through.

Doug

I'm sorry, It's hard when they're part of the family as most of them really are. I have pictures of my dogs beside my desk at work, both alive and deceased. Good Luck with her. :shakehands: Blake
