What I have been up to past 3 weeks

Three weekends ago I backed the 55 in the shop to fix, finish, and check things out under the car since I've got just over 500 miles on it now. I had to drop the fuel tank to fix the leak around the sending uniit. While I was under it I started checking things out from the front to the rear. It all looked great in fact all I had to do under the car was adjust the E-brake cable. I popped the rear window out for the third time to change the trim retainer clips again. A bunch of small items to finish up. Loose ends I guess you'd call em. I'm real happy to say that when I lower the car on the ground tomorrow after 3 weeks it will be done ( we all know they are never really done, but) other than having the trunk upholstered and having the AC charged this coming spring it's DONE.

The weekend of the 25th it hits the road for a 150 mile trip south to Boulder City NV. for a pretty good size car show. My grandson and I will be leaving here with several others from our car club. We leave Friday morning and come back on Sunday. I'm excited like a little kid! Is that so wrong? I mean I started this project in 04

Bruce sounds like you are finally getting to enjoy the fruits of all the hard work you put into the 55 this time. You and the grandson have a blast while you are at it.
Terry
You and your grandson have a safe trip:burnout: Later, Dave
Bruce, please post some pics.
Silver `55, Right?
Thanks Tony
Bruce,

I would be excited too....have a safe trip, look forward to your pictures.

David
Hey Bruce- If enjoying the car you've been working on for all these years is wrong, I'm turning in my Ed Roth autographed Ratfink art.
Glad you're having a good time- nice that you have a grandson to share this with.
Don't know what happened to my reply, but your car looks GREAT! and you should enjoy it.

Nonetheless, I oticed you have spintech mufflers, how do you like them? Mine were just installed, but I haven't been able to drive the car yet.

tuened 55!!! How have you managed to the stainless off and on three times without dinging the paint. I've got this same project coming up on my 57 HT and have been dreading it. Whats the trick? Other than very carefully. Sharkey 5557.

I really like the Spintechs. I first saw them at SEMA. I called them and has a set sent to me. They don't sound like anything else on the road. My guess you'll like em :tu

I taped off the window area with masking tape. The trick is two things. One, have the proper seal. You want the T&N seal (Think that is the name) and two, the correct clips. I bought two different sets and ended up using the ones I removed at the start of the build. Good luck with you HT :tu
Bruce!! Are the spintechs fairley quiet. I have 3 cars with flomaster 40 series on them and am in the notion to change one to a quieter brand I guess. My hair is roughley the color of yours and very loud does not work as well for me anymore. By the way, your 55 is a 10. Sharkey 5557.

You know they can be pretty loud but there is zero drown. At one time I wanted to quiet them down with a smaller muffler at the rear but one the road cruising and lower RPM's it's not too loud for me. I too had 40 series and was more than happy to get rid of them. I'm surprised more people don't use Spimtechs. I think you can still go to their website and listen to several different cars. I was after the sound of the Vette on there.:happy0030:

Thanks for the compliment on my car :tu
Nice update Bruce! Great pic of you and your grandson too!
