Model A's have a similar cover that fits on the wood floor board around the gear shift lever and emergency brake handle. THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU HAVE,BUT SOMETHING CLOSE.

it kinda looks like a home made starter heat shield i have seen some in the speed parts magazine that look like that

I believe this piece goes down by the motor mount on the shift linkage side of a powerglide car. Can't remember if it goes to the front or back. If you check it out I believe you will find the bolt holes would line up to the motor mount holes on the frame.

Yes it does look like the cover in the assy manual. I will check it out on the car. Seems like with only 2 holes to mount it, it will vibrate. Good place to start though. Thanks

The plate difinitley fits the transmission mount hole pattern. I will try to install it once the engine and tranny go back in next year. thanks for the expert help.
