I really like my 4 door 210, purchased in 1965; kept and refreshed, after languishing in a barn, back to the original; that is 235 and powerglide. Ok I added front disc brakes and FM radio.
I had a nice cool ride with my wife to get an ice cream tonight. Didn't bring the dog (70 lbs) who goes into the back seat via the rear door!:)

Wait, you did all this in a 4 door, had fun, and looked cool doing it?

Blasphemy...lol

2 door, 3 door, 4 door, all are better than no doors. I sure don’t wanna go in thru the window.

Why would anybody ask as to what is so special about 2 doors if he already didn’t realize they were or else he wouldn’t ask the question? Simple ............. supply & demand............no disrespect for anybody’s car just fact.

4-door cars are maybe frowned upon.. by opinionated people who cannot keep their OPINIONS to themselves, and who derive some kind of sick enjoyment denigrating others who hold different opinions...

Have YOU considered that MOST cars purchased THEN (in the mid fifties), NOW, and all periods since then... are 4-doors! So I'd say that YOU who hold those stupid opinions are the ones in the minority!

Calling another persons opinion "Stupid" is a tad harsh. The nice folks on these boards prefer less doors. That is a fact. Even many people that have spent considerable money on their 4 door cars prefer 2 doors and freely admit it. Practicality and utilitarian ideals do not always translate well to hobbies. That too is a fact.

My daily driver is a modern 4 door sport wagen. But my hobby is based around this.

For quite a few years the Ford Escort was the "best selling" car in America! Did that make it the "best car" being sold in America? I don't think so. Do you?

I knew the original question posed would invite a variety of opinions. But as the old saying goes, “opinions are like.....”. Stating facts such as values, cost of restoration and even what was cool in the day can not be disputed. But disparaging remarks like 4 drs being plain ugly or embarrassing to drive are personal opinions that are obviously intended to be insulting. As I have preached for years, “ it is not so much what you say, but how you say it”. There are situations in life were a little decorum should be shown. For example, if you were to attend a wedding, would you ever think to tell the bride or groom that you would not marry that person because that person was ugly? Or if a coworker shows photos of the kids, would you reply “those kids are fat”? If you would do this, there are a few choice words that society has available that might best describe you and can not be used on this forum. Do you really want to be known as that guy? For many on this forum, wife, kids and their cars top the list and not necessarily in that order. I would never tell you to keep your opinions to yourself. Especially when opinions were solicited. I would just ask that a little more thought go into how your opinions or responses may be perceived as to not offend anyone. We need to remember, wether you like it or not, we are all ambassadors of our hobby and keeping our hobby thriving benefits us all. For those of us that have owned 4 drs for a length of time, we have learned to grow some thicker skin. But I do get concerned for those who are entering the hobby that feel as though they are looked at “as lesser than”. I think it no coincidence that Chris Sondles the president of the American Tri Five Association drives a 56’ 4 dr wagon. I believe this is his way of showing the world that the tri five family is all inclusive to all tri fives regardless of doors or money spent. As I stated in my earlier post, times and attitudes are changing. Those who continue to express their personal views that they know are offensive, may very well find themselves on the outside looking in.

These “OPINIONS” are far older than most here. Having one in the 2dr vs 4dr debate isn’t a bad thing, and it don’t take much of a visual to see why it’s been that way for so long. Also, it’s been that way for so long that it’s hard to imagine a car guy with his head buried long enough to have never heard it before.

The prevailing opinion on this forum (at least per several of you) is that unless one owns a 2-dr trifive, they aren't a 'real enthusiast' and don't belong on this forum. Is that what you 2-dr only guys are saying?

Some of the posts made to this thread deriding 4-dr trifives and drivers of these cars are really upsetting to me and that is the reason I've posted so many times in response to those posts. YES, I think anyone who derides another person for their 'choices' is being obtuse and ignorant, and it's 'stupid' to deride anyone who doesn't hold the same opinions as yourself. Maybe you are so obtuse that you don't even realize that you are insulting everyone who owns a trifive 4-door when you say those things, but you ARE.

Yes, most people prefer 2-dr classics. No one has disputed that, but 4-dr owners here are trifive enthusiasts just as you are (perhaps more so), so please tell us what you LIKE, but keep your opinions to yourself if you have zero respect for people not driving 2-drs! I'm very disappointed in a few people who have persisted in essentially showing NO respect for 4-dr owners on this list, and also disappointed in the admins for not calling out those people when they do so!

There are two kinds of people in the tri-five world: those that have a 2 door, and those that want a 2 door. There's a reason why they don't make 2 door to 4 door conversions! Lastly, at the Trifive Nationals, all of the 2 door cars should be parked up front, and the 4 doors get parked all the way in the back, far, far away.............

(these comments were made tongue-in-cheek, so don't let them raise your blood pressure!!)

I love red cars. So do I think everybody that likes some other color is stupid. Heck no I don't. Same thing. What if we all had red 2 door cars. Be pretty boring wouldn't it. At this point I think this thread should be closed. I see nothing to be gained by continuing.
