Wheels turn in Park

658 Views 1 Reply 2 Participants Last post by  big gear head
Started to troubleshoot my brake issues and when I had the rear end up I noticed that the wheels turn both ways freely in park. I have a turbo 400, and no parking brakes(not yet at least) but usually when I park it it does seem to lock into park. Lowered it to the ground and tried to push it and it seems to lock into park.

What gives?

It's the differential. When you turn one wheel one way the toerh one turns the other way if they are not on the ground. They will not both turn the same direction when it park. The gears inside the differential allow them to turn in opposite directions when they are off of the ground.
