I have to say, I felt pretty queasy drilling these holes in my Bel Air - but I was fine when I was done. Totally worth the wracked nerves for the end result.

The new Nomad arrived last Thursday. Gonna drill holes in it, too!

I like te fender birds on the 56. They add a nice touch to them i think. The nomad isn`t any slouch like it is either.

Dave, those look great. I felt the same way drilling into the fender of my freshly painted 57 fenders. I didn't know I could drill so slow! JIM.

The fender birds look great Dave! I am sure you were more careful than the guys installing these 54 years ago.

Drilling holes in brand new cars was an every day event in dealership service departments back in the 1950’s. Typically the journeyman mechanics didn’t want the job of installing accessories on new cars because the flat-rate schedule wasn’t very generous for these jobs. The job of drilling holes and installing accessories was usually assigned to the shop apprentice.

I know just what you mean on wrecked nerves.I cut out for the 6x9,s in my car and was not wanting to cut it up,:confused0006: but as you said the end result was worth it!

I've been debating about putting fender birds on my Nomad for a long time...I have an NOS pair I bought years ago. I'm still not sure if I will.

thanks, guys! the holes were not but about 3/16th or so, but i used 4 bits to work up to that size. i wasn't taking any chances.
