I just bought a 1978 Cutlass that has a 305 Chevy and 4 speed Saginaw. I have a complete original 3 speed setup for a 55 project with a Hurst bench seat shifter. Will the 4 speed bolt up the same? Any modifications? I never mess with standard trannys. Always auto. Wanted to do something different and have a little old school feel.

The 4 spd will bolt up, it uses the same slip yoke as a TH350... I'm not sure on length, you might need a different driveshaft...

Length is the same too, just put a new yoke on the driveshaft.

The only other thing you'll need is the shifter installation.

So can I use the Hurst floor shifter from the 3 speed on the 4 speed? What parts do I need? Another shift rod for 4th gear? Sorry, I'm not stick shift educated :D

You'll need a 4 speed shifter...
You could use the 3 speed shifter for the four forward gears but then you would have to add a second lever somewhere to work reverse...
