Need to replace some windows on the new '55 four door sedan that I just picked up....Got an article from Bob on window refurbishment....However, it doesn't tell you how to get the windows out.

How do you get the windows out of the doors?

I JUST went through this on my back door.

its actually pretty easy.

for the back door, unhook the glass channel from the regulatopr and let the glass fall past it to the bottom.

take out the screws in the doorjamb (in the doors themselves) thjat hold the fur channel in place.

pull the top of the channel out, it's held in with a spring clip of some kind a screwdriver should do it just fine..

pry the fur channel out of the top of the window and remove it.

fish a rope around the bottom of the glass and channel and fish it out through the hole..

haven't put mine back in yet.. figure it's similar tho.. glass in, felt in, glass in regulator..

yeah those rear doors are tough to get out. Basically have to take out fur channel. The shop manual says you can roll it down, and take it out of the channel, but I couldn't turn the window to get it out that way.
