Both have the same hp, tank size, cfm ratings are close, and are enough for my painting, sanding, etc. Puma is a V configuration, Quincy cylinders are straight up. Budget wise, the Quincy is $150 more. Thanks for your input.
 
I know Quincy is good. I know where three of them are used now and they are all appx. 30 yrs old and used hard every day.
In one shop it hardly ever stops running at least from 8AM to 5PM and some times they work late at night. Good compressors.

I think Quincy is considered the best name in the market.

Not sure about Puma.
 
If all things are equal look at the size of the pulleys on the motor and pumps,and try to pick the one that runs the slowest. Most quincys run slower that the others and make the same cfm there for it wont be as noisy.Most v type make more cfm.If you plan on keeping it inside consider useing pipe to place the air intake filter outside and that will kill 50% of the noise that is caused by the intake valves.Try it.It really works
 
I OWN A PUMA 3 CYLINDER (80 GAL.) VERTICAL TANK, 7.5 HP MOTOR COMPRESSOR. BOUGHT THIS ABOUT 8 YEARS AGO AND NOW HAVE 175 HOURS ON IT. IT HAS BEEN TROUBLE FREE TO THIS POINT. I HAVE CHANGED THE OIL A COUPLE TIMES AND THAT'S THE EXTENT OF THE MAINTAINENCE I HAVE DONE SO FAR. RUNS QUIET AND VIBRATION FREE. COMPLETELY SATISFIED. :gba:
