RichIll check other numbers. This is in my 57. would there be any chance that this was put in at the factory?
Car was stored from '63 so I thought that this would have been an original engine?
Any other things I can check?
Thanks for the help.
Is this the top of a number 7 hiding behind a bracket? If so it could be the original engine.This is in my 57. would there be any chance that this was put in at the factory?
T=TonawandaThanks for all the input!
Yes: that is a 7 (behind starter) looks like F2957 in front of the starter on block is 3837004
I also found the numbers behind the distributor: T702B
I cannot find these in the reference links sent?
The link I sent is meant to be used with your Vin number. If you want to post it here we can help you figure out approximately what day your car was built.Thanks for all the input!

They are correct. The 55-56 used an open linkage, unprotected solenoid. 57 came with the solenoid linkage enclosed in the starter nose.Vin is
C57T273491
Is there any other way to help decipher is this is the original engine?
I have heard that the starter/solenoid assemble was different from year to year? Thanks
