Need some response. I'm thinking of leaving the cowl seal off my truck. I think it's way too ugly for all the work I've done to make the firewall cowl area look good. Don't see much use for this thing on a street rod/toy truck. Thinking of installing rubber bumpers in the holes for a cleaner look. What do you custom oriented builders think? Is there a reason it needs to be there I don't see?

One of the purposes of the seal is to keep engine smells and fumes from being drafted into the cowl vent, and then into the fresh air vents. Ted
Never thought about that but it makes perfect sense. If a person has fuel injection, the smell is probably not an issue. But the heat is.

I replaced the louvered vent panel with a solid one since I used that inside space for the AC and wiring so I don't see that as a problem and I am using FAST EFI, but valid points to consider for many builds.

Go for the bumpers then. It will look good. :tu
