This is the first cotten eyed joe the third of that name is,a B-17,laying visible in the water off Crete with 2 more American fighter planes nearby.

The Texan pilot (Charles covert) i do believe forgot to put the wheels down, bumpy landing for sure, even in a muddy field. See if i can find the photo of the third in the water, saw a show on cable and have read much on the subject of MIAs in the plane category.

Harry Burrell, squadron operations officer, was the pilot, Charles "Blackie" Covert was the regular pilot and had moved to the copilot seat for this mission.

Fold 3 historical email they sent me that i cant find of course, had a link to MIA planes from all wars.

Every Spring the Bent Prop People go to Palau to search. You can go on thier web site, Bentprop.org, and follow thier daily progress. I've been following thier progress every year for the past five years. Very interesting stuff.:gba:
