In Syracuse mo. area. Only $850 and admits it may not even make a parts car, frame perhaps ? Whadda you think ? $200 $300 make yard art or slice down the side and hang on the shop.:bowtier:
No say on the titles, i doubt it, thats no convt or it would be on my trailer, close inspection will reveal the top cut back 4inches or so its a sliced up 2dr.:bowtier:Sedan Delivery ? Is that a ragtop 55 there too. Looks as if it is. Do I dare ask. Titles with them? Mike
Looks like future shortys :sign0020:Wow I think if you had the room and time and elbow grease. Parts alone are worth 200 -300 . MIke
Not if mike could bundle them.:bowtier:Looks like the pickings are very slim. I'm sure the American Pickers would bypass these.:anim_25::bowtieb:
:tu one of my favorite shows, but not to good with making any money on car picking. they do luv rust and it isn't as free as we might think. :damnmate:Not if mike could bundle them.:bowtier:
Their not real car guys anyway, ya dig ?:sign0020:
Not savvy car buyers from what ive seen on the show, my opine, yours may differ.
X2Sure is sad to see them like that
http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/pts/4838312679.htmlCan you say barn find, you better have had a tetanus shot.:bowtier:

To dream the impossible dream ? When he croaks it will be up for grabs, happened on a 56 convt in west TX (childress), i talked to the owner but no go, found it on Craigs years later, related to the relatives my history with their dad, they acted like meth heads and it sold to someone else. I had the cash, and knew the car, and still it slipped away. damn shame.http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/pts/4838312679.html
This one has been for sale for about 2 years on the Chicago Craigslist. Yes, it is a prime example of the "I'm gonna restore it someday" mentality. There are a large number of "hope to be car guys" that have not the funds, the patience, the skills or the tools to engage in even a simple refurbishment of an old car, much less a complete restoration of a basket case like this one.
Many eventually come to grips with their fantasy, realizing it is just that, and that there is no way they can even complete 10% of the project. The smart ones cut their losses and sell the project for a decent, market appropriate price. Some, however, are simply not in touch with the reality of what it takes to put one of these back together. Those are the ones that irritate me to no end, as they destroy, by inaction, a car that could be preserved by others.
This 55 falls into that category. The poster of the ad says "I am posting it for an old guy named Ron and he is really attached to the car. He wanted me to put it out there for $7.5k but I listed it for $6.5k just because...." He is so damn far out to lunch on price that no one will even bother to call or come look at the car. I have looked over the pictures of some of the work performed on this car, long in the past, and it is extremely rough. See the attached photo below of a quarter section that will have to be discarded and redone. This car is in Chicago i.e. salt belt, so it is going to be a total rat underneath. If it has a clean title, and the poster bothered to clear out the area this past summer to get some good pictures, he may be able to raise enough interest to get $3k for this shell. Even at that he will need to find the right person that is really a glutton for punishment. That is why I believe that this car will never sell, having been on the market for several years, with the owner not getting the picture that his price is a product of delusion, not real world market conditions. Rant over.
Driver.
My shorty needs and extension all right, but the doc says he can fix that, but he says you gotta pay me cash. Im short on that too.Charles,Charles,Charles, Is this an extension of your "shorty's" post? If so;
I'm w/you,I like shorty's.And yes,I believe that I would rather see these and many others made into shorty's instead of sittin & rotting.
It sure aint no rave, some folks jus have and hold too long, Knew a guy who scored a 40 ford set up for a Chevy, cleaning out garages, years back,free car. Offered 1k, for a free car, no sale, at the end, he was regretful, the no title issue defeated his greed.http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/pts/4838312679.html
