In my opinion if the original doors can be saved its your best option, in my experience the reproduction parts leave much to be desired.

But if you have to have them as I know many of us do I've had success with dynacorn stuff. Stay away from the counterparts stuff in my experience its awful. No matter who you go with they will require some tweaking, but my dynacorn stuff was way better than counterparts.

Where are you located... I have a set of complete doors that I cant give away.. Im in the middle of nowhere in Independence, Ca... And im sure as they are gone I will need them, but if someone wants, come and get em

Its rusty, but solid. Only surface rust from sitting in my yard. I took a wire wheel and cleaned up a patch. No cancer. I have a cab to go with the doors too if you want. I have a local that wants the cab, but that was weeks ago. First come first get.. Where are you located?

I am putting together a 56 chevy truck have all good tin for truck except doors do they make a after market door worth buying or should i just rebuil the old ones
Well I will give you my story and let you decide.
Here goes.

I bought two new repops for my 56 truck when I was building it and it took me my buddy Tom and about 60 hours of cutting and welding and grinding to make them fit. If I had known that I would have found some buildable factory doors for it.
My opinion.
Not worth the hassle.

How bad are your doors?
Is it just the bottoms that are rusted out?

My '57 pickup door bottoms were rusted out and I detail in my build thread how I replaced both the outer and inner bottoms. I also detailed the repair of the cracked lower door hinge brackets which is a common issue with these.

You do need a mig welder for doing this and it pays to get a good quality one if you don't already have it. I have a 120V Lincoln 135 Plus and is now called the PowerMig 140c.

YEP! like BOBBY PRO STREET said... Iam goin through exactly what he said at the moment...They are ok/fair to say but like i always preach... with the old stuff, your goin to cut/ weld to fix rust and fix dents and with the new stuff your goin to cut/weld to make fit right.... in the end your goin to CUT/WELD something. depends on how bad your doors are... the older stuff has better metal/steel quality in my opinion.. good luck and keep us posted my friend :anim_25:

Didn't see your final reply.....too late again
If you're not in a huge hurry, I just bought a 57 and it has an extra cab, doors, hood, tailgate and grill. Picking up tonight. Will take me a while to see what I will be needing of the extra parts. Just looking at the truck it looks good, no dents, no visible rust, so I may not need any of the extra parts, but need to go through it to see. P.M. Me your email address if you want me to keep you updated.
