I don't get why the officer proceeded to write you up even though you had proof. Did his computer say otherwise? That's a bunch of baloney.
He claimed the computer said the insurance was cancelled. I had shown him my policy. It had two payment schedules one was a smaller amount if you pay for the entire 6 months in one payment. the other was a larger amount if you make monthly payments. He accused me of only making the first payment in order to get my tags renewed. The truck insures for $68 every 6 months. My wife had mailed a check for the full amount. He didn't care. End of the month He has to write enough tickets to meet the quota. He Probably assumed I would pay the clerk at the city hall the $50 extortion fee! Something Is wrong when you have to prove that your innocent. And after you do they still try and extort $50? Im now carrying a copy of the cancelled check along with everything else.

“Jensen recorded the incident from four different angles but police do not recommend copying what he did. Officers say that what he did was dangerous and to call police.”

Translation: We have no interest in petty theft against ordinary citizens and certainly don’t want to encourage gathering any evidence that obligates us to deal with a costly prosecution for some worthless two week sentence. Frankly these crimes aren’t profitable for us to prosecute and we would prefer to focus our efforts on issuing tickets and citations for civil and traffic code violations on working class citizens while they got to and from work. These people actually have money we want and are much more meek and pleasant to deal with than actual criminals.

So feel free never to raise this matter with us again and we will be certain not to respond to it whether you do or not.

Sincerely,
Every Single Police Precinct in the United States of America

Ok Heres a true incident. We had a big ice storm that took out almost all of the local electric cooperatives distribuition lines. I had some land where the lines where down. The Coop asked me if it ok to cut down some very large cedar trees. I told the yes. that's why they haven been cut because the would have fel on the wires. So before restringing the wires they cut down the trees. I was going to haulthem off and before I got the chance someone stole them. So I cut the tops of the stumps and tops and spent a couple days searching log piles at sawmills until We located my logs. Called the law and proved the theft. The sawmill owner named the thief. He lived within 50 feet of the stolen logs. And you know what happened. Nothing! the sawmill owner bought the logs. The thief kept the money. and I received nothing. The prosecuter and sheriff never arrested the thief. over a thousand dollars worth of logs stolen from me and they didn't lift a finger. Sent a deputy out to make a report and that is all. It didn't do the thief much good. Within a couple of months Karma paid him a visit. Healthy guy with no known medical problems 57 years old walking across his yard and died from a heart attack. Go figure?

Personally I'm kinda liking this story. I don't have the same negative view of the cops like I used to when I was young, but to have a government district use them for profits is beyond my compassion.

These govies need people like you to stand up for what's right, and rub their faces in the cow pattie. It's too bad that this gutless entire nation wouldn't do the same.

Its a first hand Account of something that happened to me. The one you called bull on is something I nepotized from another website. I know its a parody on the way things are. That story leads you to believe someone investigated a crime and gathered evidence. And the police frowned on that action. Because its not a great revenue producer. That Might? (is very likely) to be a fabricated (story)? I wasn't a principal and have no idea if it ever occurred. So I related a similar true story Where I was one of the principals involved . One wher I was first hand and knew the facts. The guy who stole my logs was named Rick Inman. Darrell Vandergriff is the sawmiller. And Deputy Gary Tate was the deputy who made the report. Every inquiry I made to the sheriff & prosecuter was Leave your number & that they would let me know. Maybe where you live things are different and all the LEOS are honest?

Hey lonelywolf and a few followers, grow up, the majority of cops are not bad, stop looking for excuses to start yet another cop bashing thread and just pray that you are never put in a dangerous situation that these men and women have to go through, throughout their careers.
Yes some cops are decent people, go out of their way to give a person a break, and really are out there focused on the bad guys.
People dont seem to understand that when they put on that uniform, they are doing their job. When they take it off, most are normal everyday people with families, friends and that. Its a shame to see that the few that put on that uniform and use it as a way to oppress or power over civilians, are the ones that make people think they are all like that.
It is funny that people "who hate cops" are sometimes " criminals" trying to hide from "said police".
I would also like to thank all the police who stand for "honesty" while defending our nation.
My 2 cents............like it or not !!

Another person who is in law enforcement told me that the City of Ravenden police during the summer write a $100,000 in tickets every month.
is there any way you can document how a town of 475 folks can generate $100,000 a month in traffic tickets? (That's about $3300 a day!). I simply do not believe it--prove me wrong.

And why do your stories always start with something like "my brother in law heard from this guy" or "someone told me". Did you witness any of these events or are you simply passing along rumors.

As for the logs: how could anyone prove that they were your logs? Yes, it sounds cut and dried to you but the statutes all have a provision for reasonable doubt. Anyone could have cut those logs and no one can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that your suspect did it. That is why there was no arrest. No hope of a conviction so why arrest someone?

The last tirade you were on about the police was interesting. You went on and on about how your were harassed and generally had your life made miserable by the police. Later in the diatribe, you said you had had only one ticket in 29 years of truck driving. Another one of "some guy told me stories?"

Your insurance story defies logic.

The highway is 412&62 its a main east & west artery. thousands of vehicles pass through there on a daily basis. There are plenty of out of state vehicles that pass through there. How does a little town like that afford three fulltime and two part time police officers. Have a city hall with two employees? and a city park and street employees? I could prove that they where my logs because the stumps I cut off are like a finger print they exactly matched the logs. We took pictures and the deputy was satisfied that we proved our case. And here is the logic. Write the ticket even though I have insurance. The gals at the city haul charge a $50 fee and most folks rather than go to court just pay the $50. The local state trooper a Guy named Mc Mullen was caught with a south of the border hooker and a car load of weed. He went to jail. reciently the police chiefs wife was convicted of dealing drugs. And she was the clerk at the municiplal judges office. that where she was selling the drugs. If you want I can provide links. Yep there all knights in shining armour.:sign0020: And yes I was hassled by the dot. No tickets because I wasn't doing anything wrong. the reasons I was stopped was older truck owned by a small company with out of state tags. Its still aggravates you to get stopped for no reason other that someone wants to make revenue. You can believe they are knight in shining armor that's your choice. I think they are wanna be bullies who could not ever work for some one who must make a profit from the work they could do.

I tell you what come drive through Ravenden or the other little towns around here with your out of state plates and go a bit above the speed limit. See first hand what happens.

Sounds like you live in a real dump of a town ,,if it was me I would move ,less stress ,and a better quality of life ,,,,but first you going have to sell those 40 buckets of rusted out cars and trucks you have in your yard ,,,:) just think of all the scrap metal you have just sitting there ,,you could get your 55 done

There's the level of the 'authorities' up here......,

Then there's the level of the commoners down here.

That's the kind of attitude that causes so much trouble with citizens that pay the bills. You sure wouldn't hire or keep a gardener that gets in your face and tries to boss YOUR household around even though your HOA demands that you do. Your hostility to the OP is grating. I've read your posts on other threads so I know where your coming from, and I don't have a problem with your chosen profession one bit, and even commend you for it, but you know your own self that if you approach most citizens with respect, you get it back tenfold. Walk up to a guy with disrespect however, and I'm sure you've seen the results. There are a great many of our authorities that love being in that higher than thou position, and go out of their way to use it to the maximum.

This OP just related an experience he was forced to go through, and for once won. I'm sure you would have felt the same. To use a term like "dump" in describing his state or locale is sorta jumping into that "than thou" thing. Let the guy be, and if you don't like his relates then avoid them. It's better though to read and try to understand his point of view.

Some people just crack me up, the comment "citizens that pay the bills" like the police and fire fighter don't pay their fair share of taxes ,,or being a public servant means you get a free ride ,and as for the town in question being a dump that is my opinion that I have gotten from the links that the poster supplied ,in which it at least seems local corruption is everywhere ,,,and in my concern I think he would have a more peaceful longer life out of that environment ,,,,:)
