More progress, I sprayed some epoxy on the bottom and got it fitted up.

I used pop rivets to pull the bottom to the door so i could weld it

I made this patch for the gaping hole in the door, hammered it out with a body hammer on the vise, not perfect but it will do for the inside of a door

Just gotta sand some bondo to blend it a little better and ill spray some epoxy on the back and fix the skin. Thanks, Dustin

finally finished up the backside of this door. looking back i should have had this door blasted just to save the time i spent grinding, sanding, and treating rust. I have a little more to go on the back edge and the bottom flange but nothing major. I was just thinking that it has taken me nearly a month just to put a door bottom on, some of you guys would have had it done in 2 days lol.

I sold my neon i painted for $1300, gonna use it to buy a civic for $500 and hopefully flip it real quick for $2000 or so after a paint job. Gonna really TRY and get the chassis done before the nationals so i can try to drive my 55 alongside my dad and grandma in my grandpas 55. bad thing is I haven't even started on the chassis lol, all i got to do is take the body off, blast the frame, rebuild the front end, fit up and install the 8.8 i'm putting in, mount the big block and powerglide and put the discs on the front, all while having no idea what i'm doing lol wish me luck. i can deal with the body lookin like hell for the time being but i don't want to half ass the chassis and just end up having to tear it apart and redo it after the show.

Thanks, Dustin

can someone point me in a direction to which front end rebuild kit i should buy?

this kit says it includes everything you need to do the job
http://www.ebay.com/itm/55-56-57-Chevy-Front-Suspension-Rebuild-Kit-1955-1957-/191205447738?hash=item2c84bb983a:g:frUAAOxyiklTkpP4&vxp=mtr

so does this one and it has all the hardware to reinstall it, should i go ahead and plan on replacing the hardware or no? or are both of these kits trash and i should be looking elsewhere? I apologize for my complete lack of knowledge on what i'm trying to accomplish lol.

Both kits are sold by reputable guys. I know them personally and can tell you they sell the best that is available.

The second kit is the more complete kit with everything you will need to replace the ware parts on your front end. It is nice to have all the new hardware as well. It will just make the job that much easier to complete.

Denny Williams has his own website you can order from also. http://www.bowtieclassicparts.com/

Sounds like you are staying busy . Good luck with the front end. MIke

Gonna get a body cart built up next week, I have to buy wheels for it that have air in them because the barn has a dirt floor and it isn't anywhere near level. So how much does the body weigh? it still has the trunk and all the wiring in it, no doors on it. looking at some wheels from harbor freight that have a 300 pound capacity for each corner.

Thanks, Dustin

Body itself I would estimate at about 500 LBS for a shell of a car. So I would bet that the 300 lb capacity would work if you have 4 wheels that would give you 1200 pounds total. maybe others will chime in but that is my best guess being as though I can pick up one end of the shell by myself.

Thanks man, my wheels should be plenty then. I'm gonna make this cart out of wood and when it comes time to fix the body i will borrow my cousins rotissere.

Wow, another update with no pictures. I have the stuff to get my cart built and i will do that tomorrow, I soaked the body mounts down with WD-40 today. I want to remove the front clip as one piece, I only say 2 bolts on the bottom of the radiator support to the body and the fender bolts to take out, am I missing anything? And I saw 8 body mount bolts did I miss any?

Thanks, Dustin

Got the front clip off :thrasher: took the bumper off as well, this car is ready to be fixed as these 61 year old never removed bolts basically fell off, had problems with 1 bumper bolt and the bolt on the bottom of the drivers fender snapped off, did it with no power tools either, even got the front body mount bolts off to with just a ractchet. No another question, what all do i have to remove to lift the body off the frame?

Thanks, Dustin
