I pushed the wire into the space between the windshield trim and the windshield then down the A pillar the same way. Down around the door jamb, up under the dash and then out to the dc lighter outlet.
I did not hardwire it to the 12V power, just plugged it in.

I got one of these for my Sienna the other day and it works well.

Then I got this to mount it to the rear view mirror.

That looks like a nice unit but the deal killer for me is that it can't be mounted "upside down" with the camera mount on the bottom. This means that it has to be mounted hanging down from the mirror or windshield. I'd prefer to use a suction cup mount on the dashboard top but the resulting image would be upside down. The manufacturer says, "Understand, though, that the camera is unable to auto-rotate the image in the video files it creates. Although the image always looks normal in the display while you are driving with the Z3 upside-down, in playback mode everything appears upside-down. To view the image normally, you must either hold the Z3 (for camera playback) upside-down or position the computer display upside-down. If you are going to display your video in court, prepare to hold the computer monitor upside down. But that is easy to do, and I cannot imagine it will negatively impact your case"
