I have 4Dr Ht almost done with complete restoration. The rod from the front door latch to the outside handle is corroded bad. I can't fined replacement on the internet. It looks like the thread on the end is the same as the tread on the rod that goes from the latch to the lock knob on top of the door. Is that correct? If so I could just get a rod with the knob threads and cut and bend it to the right size and shape. My back up plan is to tap out the swivel on the lock mechinism to #6-32 and weld a 6-32 screw on a rod and then shape the rest of the rod accordingly.

I`m pretty sure that the thread is the same, just need to make sure that the piece you are replacing is bent to the same shape, there is a few guys in the classifieds that will more than likely have spares, bam bam, thehotrodhandyman, 57borntorun to name a few.

The threads on my door lock rod you describe above, for my 57 was a 6-40 or something close to that.
