While the '57 Nomad I'm building will be sitting on an updated chassis with updated braking, suspension, and driveline, I'm attempting to keep the exterior/interior appearance as 'original looking as practical. I'm at the point of getting to assemble components to the body, and currently considering the 'Best Order' to install the behind the dash and firewall components. ie. firewall pad, dynamat?, Instrument cluster, steering column, defroster assembly, WSW components (transmissions), heater assembly, ignition/wiring?, conttrols, etc. I'm assuming that all the components that can be installed from the passenger compartment (radio, glove compartment, clock, etc could be last installed)...

I'm interested in the experiences of you fellas who have 'done it all', both good and bad experiences which are educational! Which order do you consider good? (or bad ?)...

All inputs appreciated greatly! :)

Yes, the last time I was involved in a complete restoration effort on a Tri-five (late 80's early 90's) we DID follow Harold Louisiana's book 'How to Restore your '57 Chevy' in restoring a friend's '55 convertible.

My memory is not good enough now to recall the order.. :) and I can't find my copy of his book!~ (I've been looking for it!)..

Thanks fellas.. and Rick, that makes perfect sense! I'm planning to use the factory type underdash pad and maybe dynamat type sound deadener under that. then probably the windshield wiper trans (I found 2 pairs of NOS ones tonight in my old boxes), then the defroster/heater ducts before doing the 'front dash stuff'..
