T400 / 4L80s are HD. You need to get an adaptor U-joint. Maybe someone can chime in. With the measurements you should be able to find one online at Summit Racing. If not go to a NAPA and look for the oldest guy there. Not an application computer jockey.

Turbo 400, 71-later Muncies, Super T-10 and a few others, used TWO, repeat, TWO sizes of yokes to fit the 32-spline tail shaft. The 2 sizes are 1310 and 1350.
Some cars, such as big Olds, trucks, etc, used a yoke that required the larger U-joint (such as the YOKE you have-1350).
MANY Chevys with the above trannys, used a yoke that had the same size U-joint as your 55 drive shaft (1310).
Also, as mentioned, there is available a U-joint that has the larger cups on one side and the smaller cups on the other side------------------althought, that style U-joint is rather pricey! I don't know the number for the U-joint with 2 sizes, but it is referred to a 1310 to 1350 U-joint.
My personal suggestion would be to locate a 32-spline yoke that uses the smaller U-joint cups, they are moderately common, you will just have to search.

NOW, ONE LAST, BUT INPORTANT THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some drive shafts, such as early Chevys, use a U-joint that has the snap rings on the OUTSIDE of the U-joint cup, and some use a snap that fits inside the cup. MAKE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN WHICH ONE YOU BUY.

Without seeing it, I'd take a guess that your yoke that uses the 1350 U-joint is made for a cup that has the snap ring on the inside.

WRONG most Oldsmobiles do not use 1310 or 1350 style joints, they use Olds style I believe are called 2R. Had one in my 67 SS 350 for 40 years that goes 1310/ Chevy to Olds.

I don't think that's absolutely true. Most GM products went to the 2R after using Spicer for years - maybe Olds did it earlier than others. Lots of 70s Chevys with 2R stuff. Also some yokes used straps or u-bolts as early as the early 70s, which is a double edge sword - they are easier to take apart and assemble, and easier to fail. Also there are fixed yokes, not slip yokes on pickup and van applications, which you don't want unless you have a 2 piece driveshaft with a slip yoke in the middle.

What you want is the style of yoke that came on Chevys with TH400 in the late 60s.

Is the 2R the style that uses the inside snap rings and has the large cups that are the size of 1350 cups?

If the OP is still reading, if it came from a truck it may have a bolt in yoke and you can't just put any old slip yoke into it. I can't think of the name of the place but he takes regular yokes and machines out the splines a certain depth. Then that yoke will work as a slip yoke on a truck tailshaft.

the 2r is bigger than a 1310 but not as big as a 1350. it is closest to a 1330.

transmission had a slip in yoke. i bought the one from ecklers that they said would fit. 175515 there part number. the yoke they sent me is an " inland empire driveline " part number SY-400-1310. now my drive shaft is too long. i cant even get it to go into the pinyon. stock rear end. small block with stock front mounts. stock drive shaft. had a 350 turbo in car before with no problems. i am about ready to take the 400 back out and get my 350 rebuilt. 400 turbos are saposto fit. at least i always thought they did. thank you.

When the yoke is pushed forward all the way, how much of it is sticking out? A picture would be good.

A short tail 400 is longer than a short tail 350, I don't know where you got info to contrary. Why not spend $100 or so on shortening the driveshaft.

i have never been able to put pics on here. yoke is all the way in the transmission. stock drive shaft 54 inches. the 350 turbo was an easy fit.. measured everything and the 400 is about 11/16 longer than the 350. but it should still fit. i did a pic to load
