Has anyone tried using anything like an atv / motorcycle jack for installing a transmission? You still need the car pretty high to use the floor jack adapter.
the problem with that is only the rear wheels swivel. a transmission jack has 4 swivels and tilting capability making alignment easier.
this is what I use and have had it for many years.

I have the same 800lb jack for trannys. Works great. Put the car up high on cribbing with no worries and changing trans are a breeze. Recently bought the smaller, scissor style to change the rear center section. It’s pretty sweet.

I’ve been using the handy cantilevered-arm-over-melon-lifty-device ( lying on back, reach behind head, find transmission, grunt and lift over head(melon), rest on chest, bench press into place and hold until 2 bolts are started)🤨
Not fun but that’s what I gotta do🤷‍♂️.
4 post lift, and 2 post lift sitting in other part of shop waiting for installation, gotta gave the cars out of the way to do so.
What’s a guy to do? 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

I appreciate the input, I have not seen the HF jack but I will pick one up. Also, I did not notice the previous chat until I had posted this, but that 800 pound capacity jack you all have mentioned in this chat looks like a win. I do not like to admit my mind over matter has to admit it does indeed matter. And that center section jack would be great too, seeing that Olds center section weighs about as much. Thanks all, this site is so nice to have,
