I had a relative who took pride in saving engines and parts that others said were junk. What ones have you brought back that ppl said should be scrapped?

In the process of rebuilding the ‘57 283 that came out of my second wagon.

The original crank was in good shape, but had to go .080 over on the cylinders to get it to clean up.
Heads are done, exhaust valves hardened.
Just got an alternator the looks like the original generator.
Getting a frame cleaned up to use as an engine stand.

Here is my 235 which came out of my 55 which a number of people said of sorts, "WHY, it's a basket case."
Before/ after. Can any sharp eyed folks (not Dragsix) see a problem that allowed an oil leak?
