Muffler's are one of those thing's that you really have to decide on your self. What may sound great to one person, sound's awful to you, or another. I am running Flowmaster 40's, but that is what I like............... :anim_25:

Bingo... Same here. I had some sort of turbo sonics on it and it was too quiet, went ahead and changed to the flowmater 40 series and now we can hear the cam:anim_47: Of course I have always ran the flowmasters on all of my vehicles.:anim_25:

QUOTE=mrferrisjr;271055]Hey Mike (55mike). I watched your video again! I never get tired of hearing your car! :) It looks good and sounds good.

I have the Flowmaster 40's and H pipe on my 56. They're ok to a little noisy. (old age?) I would have like to have tried glasspacks because of the old days, but was concerned they may be too loud for a stout 383 as opposed to a 292-301-327 back in the day. Back then, we ran 11.5 to 13 to 1 compression on the street. Of course, we were a lot younger, so maybe they were louder than we youngsters thought. Who knows? I still may give the glasspacks a try one more time.[/QUOTE]

Hey Mike.. thanks for the kind words about my car. I too had Flowmaster 40's ("Delta") on my car for a few years. The issue I had with them was the dreaded Flowmaster drone at about 1900-2100 RPM's. This drone was inside the car at those RPM's and it was just too much for this old man. On the outside it sounded great however. After this, I went with some Edelbrock SDT mufflers. I actually really liked them at first... then within a year they started to break loose internally.. and man, did they sound terrible. So, after some real searching and listening to lots of combos I went back to the Flowmasters but this time, went with the Delta 50's. I really like them... plenty of throaty growl but very little dreaded drone. In fact at going down the highway I can hardly hear them. I think they sound fairly good on the outside of the car as well since I've had many complements and guys asking me what my exhaust combo is. As far as glass packs go, I remember having them as a young'n and when they were very popular to use. The issue with them is, they do burnout.. and well... they sound kinda fluttery (is that a word??) to me. Again, this is just my opinion. Oh and one last thing, and please no one take offense to this,,, but I really don't like the sound of Magnaflows..

I have Flowmaster 50's on my 56 and love the sound.

Another thing to consider is howmuch tailpipe you will have after the muffler. This will change the sound as well. My understanding is the more the better to reduce the rapping sound if not liked.

Also, Flowmaster has the Super 40 which is a bit quieter and has less droan they say, and I was also told they have it in a new 3" thick version for tight areas. If considering Flowmaster, I would give them a call to find out what may be new.....

I have the 3" super 40's on mine with "X" crossover, 3" pipes that dump in front of the rear wheels. They are loud with some droan which depending on what I'm doing I either like or dislike, it does get attention though.
I have only had this set of Flowmasters so I can't say how they compare to the other series.
