The other day, I walked by my '76 and my cargo short pocket caught the edge of my driver's side Stingray emblem. I noticed one of the posts got broken, and then noticed the other 2 posts had no speed nuts on them. I chalked it up to age of the car, and ordered a replacement NOS emblem.

Emblem shows up with green plastic on back, resembling peel and stick process. I start reading up online and learn that these buggers were TAPED ON, and the posts are just guides!!! I'm like you have gotta be kidding me!!

A smart dude on another page suggested using lengths of plastic tubing to hold them on versus speed nuts. I may go that route but could not believe GM went that route in 1976 with the Vette. No wonder the thing pulled off!!

so put a speed nut on them or put a dab of 3M black adhesive behind them. They'll outlive you LOL.

Yeah I bought the speed nuts in advance but was wondering if I should take them back after today's updates. I NEVER would have expected the emblems being STUCK on. I mean I know it's a plastic car, but did they really have to go full Hot Wheels on it?

I was watching a documentary on the 10 strongest things in the world. 3M double faced tape was listed among them. The windows in the Dubai Tower are held in with it and the windows are actually part of the structure of the building. If you ever tried to take a bed rail cap off of a Nissan Frontier, you’d believe it.
