Front door silencer pads

My ‘57 Bélair 4 door has remnants of some sort of fabric strips glued to the inner metal door panels. It seems that some cars had silencer pads installed, as shown in this drawing

What’s left in my car looks like it was some sort of wooly fabric. Does anyone know what would be a good material to make some of these?

You can try to use the water heater wrap sold at Lowe's and Home Depot.

It's expensive, but header wrap might work.

I think medium close cell foam would be best. I'm pretty sure it's just to keep some tension on the door card nails, so they don't rattle.

Thanks for all the ideas, I’ll go have a look I’m thinking something water resistant might be best and not too thick

That material was called bow-drill and was just a thin layer of cotton. It was an anti-rattle material and when it got wet it made a mess of the
door and the door panel. I would use something like 1/8 inch landau foam that is water prof.

I used the sticky back duct insulation everywhere. The foam is closed cell.
