I have some interior door panels that I want to secure to the door panel sheet metal, but I can not use the nails to secure. I'm going to use the trim screws to secure the panels, any suggestions or tips or how to's on this procedure?

Thanks:bowtier:

My upholstery guy used the plastic push buttons. Temporiarly screw the panel to the door and drill through the panel and door. Put the buttons in the panel and then upholster.
My guy used luan plywood (very thin) for panels and metal versions of the clips shown above.

If your door panels are already covered then the trim screws with a finishing washer will be your best bet. You can get them in chrome or black finish.

Hey guys..just to give an update, these door trim panels are already covered, sewed around the edges making it impossible to use the regular nail system to attach or any kind of plastic push pins. So, I'm using the trim screws. Whats the best way to punch a hole for the screws? A drill is out of the question. I do not want a chance to mess up the panel. Any suggestions?

Well, door trim panels are on and look great too. This is what I did. After squaring the three holes for the door opener, window crank and vent window crank on the panel, getting proper fit all around the edge, I used a awl to punch the hole thru the panel to the nail slots in the sheet metal. Then screwed it in place. Clean and simple, thats what I like. The panels I bought were off ebay, just a flat panel with some stiching rows near the bottom and stiching around the perimeter. Not the stock look, but my car is far from being OEM. Thanks for all your suggestions. Again I tried to add pics but no luck, sorry

:QUOTE=travelsclown;702630]I just bought these also and they were to wide by about 1/4 inch and now hang up on the striker plates. Did you have any problen?[/QUOTE]

No, I didn't have any problem with the fit, in fact they fit very well. Why don't you contact the vendor, I found them willing to help and make changes, like I had the rear door panels window crank holes deleted. Sorry that you have some problem.

I would like to know how Chevman57 got my pic on here? I'm calling Otis this pm. to get some helpconfused0006:[

My panels were done 6-7 years ago. Four panels, pillar trim, vinyl windlace, sunvisors, and headliner cost me prox $1,200. These are the panels built on luan backing and use metal snap-in clips.

For those of you in North Texas, the work was done by Larry Hankins at Village Upholstery in Highland Village near Lewisville.

Ciadella Panels

Here are some custom made panels Ciadella's made for me...unfortunately they are still waiting for me to finish paint before they go in. Ciadella's installed the nails during assembly so should go on with a snap. Should look very nice in my 56!!!:tu
