I ran into an issue over the weekend while working on the chassis for my '55 2 Door Sedan. I was using 2" 36 grit rolocs and ran out. I had ordered a couple of more boxes as I was running low a few weeks ago but the 36 grit (3M 01397) were obsolete. So I ordered the replacement 40 grit (3M 36525). There is NO comparison. They do not last near as long. There is no where near the same amount of grit applied to the surface. You can see gaps between the grit that was not present on the 36 grit...

So what are you guys using for 2" rolocs?? Is there a brand that you like better than the 3M 36 grit?

Thank you

Ron

Hi Ron,
On my project a skim coat of bondo is ok. Metal finishing is beyond my talents.
I have a box of assorted 2" rolocs but normally I use 3" and after I use them I trim them down to 2" (8 sided).
I bought a case (10 boxes) 3m 01408, after going thru 1/2 of them I decided to change to larger discs where appropriate.
I bought some 4 1/2" stones for my electric angle grinder. They seem to last for awhile longer
