I've been told the 55 body will fit on the early 80s frames from GM (Monte Carlo,Grand Prix, Cutlas...). Can someone tell me if this is correct and if so, what years and models? Would greatly appreciate any info. I just found this sight and I think it is AWSOME.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Appreciate the info. Guess I'll be looking for a 55 frame. Bought the car and the frame has been tubbed and four link put on but I would like to have a back seat and it doesn't leave enough room. Thanks again.

Is it a full tubbed car? If it was minitubbed then you can do like I did and install a 2 passenger seat out of a Chrysler Sebring vert. I minitubbed mine myself and that rear seat fits just right. Several other models you can find seats from.

Again, thanx for the welcomes and info. I don't have anyway of scanning any pictures at this time but I will get some on as soon as I can. The car is fully tubbed, it was built for racing. It is a super nice tub and 4 link set up. I think I will try to get an upholstery guy to look at it and see what will work with the set up. This is my first build so I am green and will be asking for alot of advice.:)

Welcome, Back to your original question a friend of mine bought a 55 hardtop that is on a mid 80's Impala frame. The previuos owner did a nice job on it and the advantage is that it has all the modern upgrades. He loves the ride and it sits low. I personly would prefer the Tub but yes it is being done. As stated you could probably find a good frame but if the Tub and 4 link was done right I think it would be less money and hassle to have a custom upholstery installed. Don't forget the "cool" factor of a Tubbed car. IMHO
