I'm trying to sell my stock 55 radiator but not real sure what it is worth. It is stamped "55B RO-3" and the PO stated that the core was rebuilt but I have not had it tested as there is no local shop around me to test it. Any opinions?

I have my stock radiator and recored I was offered 300 for it when I got my new one. Seemed about fair since that's about what I paid to have it redone and repainted. maybe 300-400.

I had it on ebay for $60 and it didn't sell so I am checking to make sure I didn't goof up. I can't gaurantee it so I did not list it high. I guess I can test it and if it checks out good them charge more for it....sounds good to me.

hi josh! they sell copper core rads for $320 at eckler's. they are for 55-57. so, you can figure less than that for a "good" used one i would think :confused0006:......................heck, whatever you get :anim_25:

I'm looking for a stock V8 radiator. But the fact it's for a specific car, or year means little. I just need a stock V8 radiator.

Is a decent original radiator really worth $300?

I ask cause I only gave a little under $250 for the replacement radiator I bought for my 150 Wagon. Sure that was about 5 - 6 years ago. So what would make a stock original radiator worth as much as a new replacement one?

Not sure that its worth that personally I was just offered 300 for it. I actually didn't sell mine because I plan on getting another 55 some day, I would probably sell mine for about 100 just because I spent so much having it completely re-cored and repainted.

I've been trying to sell most of my parts for half (or better) of new parts but it seems the parts aren't going any where but deeper in my pile of parts. I'm going to have to clean my garage out so the parts are going to have to be sold. I've already lost my tail on the cars so now I guess I'll take a beating on the parts....you would think I am use to the pain by now...lol. Thanks for the info guys.

I can relate Josh. Same thing here. I got a part it's more or less junk when I try to sell it, but if I do sell it to someone, magically it turn's to gold. Amazing...:confused0006:

As I understand it, the guy who was reproducing them with date codes has stopped doing so. So that makes the tanks more valuable nowadays. Manual radiators are going for more than automatics. Even at that, you'd have trouble getting more than $100 for an original one unless it just happens to be a date code that somebody needs. Since most people don't care about dates, the new ones, especially the chinese aluminum ones on eBay for like $200, have hurt the market.

Years ago I threw out the original shocks for Grandma's '55 and my friend told me I had tossed away a couple hundred bucks even though they were shot. This was before repros came out. Someone restoring a car to original is going to demand the correct Harrison radiator, but until then it is worth what you can get. I have the original Harrison radiator for Grandma's and am hanging on to it as it does not take up much room and I hate to toss it or give it away unless a "brother" or "sister" needs it, then I will send it to a good home.

I would like to get it to a new home. Some have asked about it so here are some pics:

It looks like it is for an automatic because it has, what looks like, a transcooler connection at the bottom? or was that a drain plug hole? Can't see it in the pics but it is at the bottom in the center.

I'll fill it up tonight and let it sit but it should if the core was replaced like it was said to have been.

OF, that is awful.....kind of you:). Gas is just too high or I would. Maybe if you could send me a few thousand for gas I will bring them down for you...hehehe.
