I have a 9 inch rear with a leaking seal. Looks like it is leaking from the outer edge of the seal, but it might be from where the seal runs on the axle. The question is.....can I get the seal? I have it all pressed apart and the bearing looks good. I have the part numbers for Timken U365L and U399A on the bearing and race. There is no number on the seal however. The axles are the large end, 3.150 OD, 1.563 ID. Attached is the bearing I have and the seal in red.
I was also seeing another type of bearing that is sealed and has an outer O ring for the same size housing. Here is one>>>> Axle Bearing With Locking Collar
A question on that. Since the seal makes up part of the entire height, where the retainer plate holds.....is this sealed type bearing a little taller to make up for not having the seal in there anymore? And, I guess another question would be are they any better at not leaking than the other style.
I suppose if I could just find that seal......if not, since I am going to buy a bearing I want to get whatever has the best chance of not leaking.
