been looking at converting the front of my 55 to air bags( rear has already been done ) . any pics of fellow tri five-ers that have done it . i see air ride offers a kit .. but was manily wondering if they cut the spring bucket out of it ?or is it a bolt on kit ? or does someone else offer a bolt on kit ?:D

I think that the shockwaves bolt right on (maybe a little bucket triming)...

The Airide "bag kit" use an upper bag mount that is snugged up into the bucket with a threaded rod(basically an angle cut piece of pipe to alighn the bag)...and I don't think you have to trim any because they are 6" bags....

I made a custom setup with CPP arms, upper mounts similar to Airide's and 8" Slam Specialties Bags...will see if I have some pix and post...

Good luck...J

your building a drag car.
sort of....converting the 55Sled into a grudge car....

540 bbc pump gas motor (with a little spray of course)

either a quadzilla (4 speed 4l80e) or an art carr 200 (both good to 1000hp)

fab 9 rear

15x12 wheels with 325 DOT Drag Radials (minitub)

anti-roll bar in back

ladder bar setup with double adjustables

and maybe some glass body panels....

but leaving in the power rack, power windows and ac...(I do live in Florida after all...)...:party0031:

msd 1955,
Like townsman0, I have Air Ride Shockwaves on all four corners with a Triangulated 4-Link in the rear and Heidts Tubular A-Arms up front with 2" Drop Spindels.
Like Crushkrew stated, the New Front Shockwaves bolt right in and do not require any cutting to the top of the front shock towers.
Good Luck!! :tu :tu

I have the a setup with convoluted bags and relocated shocks up front and sleeve bags in the rear, the most of it from ART...
The front bags did require some cutting in the spring "tower" and the brackets for the rear didn´t work for me so I made my own (adjustable...)
If you want pics check my picturetrail and look under "air-ride guide".
Here´s how the car look!

as a former Air Ride Tech/Ridetech employee and now dealer / installer I can say the tri five kit was one of our top 3 selling kits. They are a dirrect bolt in with slight modifications to the coil spring pockets and welding the lower 4-link cradle to the axle.. The kits come complete with every nut, bolt, washer, wiring harness, and fitting you'll need.
For you guys running C-4 suspension or a custom IFS they have them available as well.. The over all ride height will be dropped 1.5-2" from factory and you will have 5" of over all suspension travel from top to bottom 2" up 3" down.
Ride quality is second to none once you tune the shock valving and play with the preasure ( you can adjust the air pressure 1-5psi with out effecting height but change spring rate) to achieve the ride quality you want, since every one has there own opinion of a good ride quality.

I have the Shockwave kit and electronic leveler for the C4 suspension. How can you adjust air pressure without changing ride height?
