Hi everyone. Many, many, many years ago, when I was 14, I pestered my poor mother, until she took me to our local Sears store and bought me a small mechanics starter tool set. Ratchets, sockets, extensions, a few wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, etc. A little bit of everything I guess. I've certainly added to it over the years with mainly Craftsman tools. I inherited some nice Snapon, SK and Husky tools from my uncle. This afternoon, while taking the shocks off my '55, a socket fell off my 3/8" ratchet. A little unusual so I took a look. The tiny ball inset in the shank of the ratchet, was pushed in. I pressed the release button on the rear, and it fell apart. I could see a part that was broken. I felt bad about it because I had it so long. I'm not sure it can be fixed or not. If not, I'm looking at getting another one. At one time, you could just turn it in to a Sears store for a free replacement. Not sure that is honored anymore. The closest Sears is about 25 minutes from me and I believe that Lowes now sells Craftsman tools. There is one 15 minutes from me. Wondering if they will honor a replacement?? Has anyone tried returning a broken Craftsman tool for a replacement, lately?? Where did you go?? Successful?? Thanks, Carmine.
