I'm trying to find a windshield for my '57 Nomad, after having issues installing the one I've had for over 30 yrs~... (I got this windshield with a '57 Nomad I purchased in 1988 or thereabouts; uninstalled ever... stored on it's back in my shop attic storage for all that time). It *appears* to be 'long from corner to corner, so I'm unsure if it's correct for a '57 Nomad or whether it 'potentially' 'bent' from being stored for over 30 years on it's back...??

The closest new green tint/shaded windshield I can locate is in Nashville TN and it's an FYG windshield. I wasn't familiar with this brand, but in 'googling' I find it's made in China; they are the OE mfg for BMW and other brands, and from the reviews I've found the glass is a good one (but no reviews found for any Trifive glass)..

Has anyone used this glass mfg that can give feedback?

Thanks in advance for anything you can provide..... :)

Thanks Bruce... were those 'trifive' windshields you installed ??

Everything I've heard/read has been good and the Distributor in Nashville with 4 of them, but the windshield would be bare (no packaging) when I pick it up...
.. green tint with blue shading...

Now I've got to trade pickups with someone for a day to go get one; it's too wide for the backseat of my narrow pickup (Colorado).

BamaNomad,

If you wouldn't mind, could you tell me the venders info from Nashville. I'm getting ready to purchase some glass and would prefer picking it up rather than having it shipped. I'm about 100 miles from Nashville.

Thanks.

Talldeck: The company in Nashville is a distributor (no sales direct) - they told me several times. You have to BUY thru a glass vendor... I went thru Vintage Glass (Lawrenceville, GA)...

If it was stored on its back it would stretch out (long) glass is a liquid
THAT is my fear... I've always heard 'glass is liquid' (and even window panes will 'sag' after many years) and that is what I've assumed happened... it was stored 30+ years on it's back (on a piece of foam) in my shop attic.

I am pretty sure it was correct when I first obtained it... maybe I'll store it the other way so the ends pull down and closer together for a few years and then try to use it in another '57 Nomad! :)

I'm going to buy another windshield and then I'll know more.

Most of the ones I've seen are stored nearly in the 'installed' position, bottom side down and upright... I've even thought of making myself a 'rack' to hold glass that way (for storage or transport).. probably should have done that a long time ago!~ :)

My windshield gasket I was using is also 4-5 yrs old... maybe I should buy a new gasket as well... Can anyone recommend a particular vendor /mfg??
