H.I.D.
Hello.I have installed a convertion on my 55 truck. Your right ,the original's are dim. It's caused by quality light and wiring. If you try and run a higher output lights on the original wiring, you will have trouble. If you run a new wire harness and switch you should'nt have any trouble, but thats an expensive option just for lights. I went with 4200k H.I.D. Limited white bulb, low input, high power Halogen bulb's. These are a blue looking bulb that work awsome at night.
If your running original wiring ,they make a relay set up that is easy to instal and not alot of money. It simply taps into your original wiring to get its signal to turn on (high and Low beam). The other end gets its power directly off your battery. You can find this relay through LMC or cheaper on Ebay. You have a couple options on with your bulb lense. You can buy new ones or modify an old set to save about $60 . The set up I am running is the 4200k H.I.D. bulb, new lense's ,and relay. The total install took about an hour and half with no major modifing. For me, I don't regret these lights one bit. They truelly make a big differece. Good luck to you.:tu
