Not sure about the length but I believe it takes 5/8" hose if 55/56 is the same. Someone else will probably help with the other.

 

I think they are the same, forgot to metion its a 265 car. Thanks for the help, i should have measured today and forgot.

 

If the 57 is the same I just changed a couple of mine and bought 5/8 hose, it was really, really hard to get on the heater and bypass tubes, I was thinking of maybe trying 3/4 next time if there is one. I soaked the hose ends in almost boiling water for a bit and that helps.

What I do is use a flexible tape measure or something else that you can measure and run it as close to where you want the hoses to go, then I always add some to it just to make sure I have plenty.
Don't forget the hose clamps

 

i was hoping to pick it up during the day tomarrow, not gonna have time to get to the shop until everything is closed, i may have to wait until another day. I have racks of hose clamps so i should be good there lol

 

Your local parts suppler has the correct size and length in-stock!!

 

Shawn, I just installed heater hose in my 57 (by the way a 57 is 3/4") and I bought 20 feet (it is like a $1.10 a foot) just to make sure and I use under 10 feet. hope this helps.

ANOTHER MEASURING DEVISE YOU COULD USE IS SOME WEED-WHACKER LINE...

 

Although there is a rubber lubricant you can buy, I use dishwashing liquid on the nipples of the heater and the engine and put a small amount inside the ends of the hose so it will slip on easily. The soap can quickly be rinsed harmlessly away. Makes the job much easier and goes a lot faster.

I bet you do lol. On the 56 "rat rod" i dont really need the GM markings and the cheapies will do. I made it to the shop early and checked it out i got 7 foot of 5/8. Thanks for the help all
