Have just purchased, received, and installed the TSP 81074 oil pan that this thread was started about. An earlier comment questioned if it is made in the U.S.. It is not. It is actually (no surprise) made in China.
Yeah I called and talked to them, about it just forget to update it, Made in China. TSP has a lot of stuff imported.

I purchased from an Ebay seller, performancepartsracing in Lenexa, Kansas, for $243.45. This price included shipping and tax (which is now, as everyone knows collected by Ebay).
Not bad price keeps going up. I know TSP does wholesale pricing. Not sure how strick they are on MSRP vs sale price. But $243 good deal now.

It came FedEx and was here in 2 days. Anyone who has researched this pan will find it comes with oil pick up tube, tube o-ring, oil cooler block off plate, pan baffle, a new gasket, drain plug, and new fasteners. Upon installing the pan on my 6.0 vortec I found the end of the pick up tube that the o-ring slides onto was poorly formed. I looks like when they pressed the metal stop ring onto the end of the tube, it sort of scarred up the tube and distorted the tube slightly out of round. Installed the new o-ring provided and test fitted. To me it wasn't as tight of a fit as it should be. I got out my selection of spare o-ring stock and found one that made the fit tighter. This is concerning to me as in my research and talking to others that are familiar with these engnes, it is said that one thing you should do on any used ls/vortec you get is to replace the oil pick up tube o-ring because oil pressure problems have been traced to this o-ring becoming flattened and losing its seal, and thus low oil pressure. Don't really want to go the through the hassle of returning or exchanging a shipped product. Has anyone else that has used this pan experience the same issue? I may be overthinking this but don't, of course, want to wind up with low oil pressure because of it.
GM change oring size for the pickup so there are two sizes. As long a the tube is tight when pushing it in then it should be fine. Use fresh oil to lube oring. And install.

Can someone tell me the oil filter number or cross reference number for a short version filter that would be equivalent to the AC Delco PF63. The TSP replacement oil pan comes with the metric thread fitting for the oil filter. Want to run the shorter oil filter to go with the shorter sump. Is the short version the PF48?

the three napa filters I use are 1040 for stock early ls pans or 1042 or 7060 depending on the thread on the aftermarket pan

PF48 is the shorter version metric thread which TSP states this in the instructions to use and in the notes on website. Google PF48 cross refencen and will give you what ever brand you want to run. I run wix or napa gold typically both are made by wix.

Decided to get an AC Delco PF48 oil filter to fit the shorter sump and metric fitting on my new TSP 81074 replacement oil pan. Upon calling them, the local Advance Auto Parts had one PF48 filter left with the counter man agreeing that they were being replaced by the PF48E. The E suffix filter has internals that have plastic frame components rather than metal and are supposed to be more easily crushable and therefore more recyclable friendly, thus the E (environmental) suffix. The box of this "last one" AC Delco filter just doesn't look like a genuine, real deal printed box. It has labeling that appears to be in about six different languages. the printed colors just don't look bright, and even the printing saying it's a GM genuine OE original equipment just looks cheesy. I know GM and all big corporations have to play on a global scale nowadays, and have packaging, instructions, and tech help to market to the world, but I've got to wonder if even something like this, an oil filter, is being knocked off. One tip off on other knock off items are the packaging and package printing. If the box or packaging just doesn't look right, I wonder about the filter inside. No where on the box does it say where it's made.

You can go with WIX or NAPA GOLD both are made by WIX and are good filters. I run the PF63 in my LS trucks, same filter as the PF48 but longer. They aren't knock offs usually if bought from a parts house. Amazon maybe but most parts houses are buying direct. Champion Labs was ,making delco filters and they have a plant in china. But no way to know if it came from China or Ohio.

Would this be the same oil pan as the TSP?

Found a cheaper option for a pan vs the holley 302-1.

This one is $244 shipped! Some $70 cheaper than holley. Plus this pan comes with with a new pan gasket and bolts which holley doesn’t. So its actually closer to $100 cheaper!
TSP 81074 Retro-Fit LSX Aluminum Rear Sump Oil Pan, Aluminum, Natural

Picture and dimensions in link.
I bought that one and it had machining imperfections on the oil filter housing. I returned it and a new one was sent and it had a different casting failure. Ended up with the Holley. I will say I have bad luck on hood deal parts

Well it is made in China so there are risks. But define imperfections? Oil filter wouldn't seal due to them or visual imperfections?

hmmm, I just ordered one. I guess it is a $250 gamble.

Still in the box unfortunately with all my other ls stuff. I'm really dragging out this swap. lol. Car runs so well it's tough to want to rip apart.

Don't know if you were asking me or just asking in general, but for me the pan lets my engine sit in place with no interference or clearance problems with the front crossmember. There isn't a large clearance between the front lower corners of the pan and the front crossmember but there is clearance (maybe a 1/4" plus) and no notching or grinding was done. Also the sump does not hang lower than the crossmember. Have not gotten to the point of starting the engine yet so can't report on operation or if it leaks, but as far as fit, it is working for me.

Thank you, good info. Mine just came in the mail, it looks ok.

michaelfgoss, when you get to the point of looking at your oil pick-up tube, check the area near the end of the tube where the provided o-ring goes on. On mine, as I mentioned in a previous post, the area where they press on the stop ring that the 0-ring slides up against was kinda scarred up, and was slightly deformed out of round. Also, I didn't feel the fit into the receiving hole was as tight as it should be, so I replaced the o-ring with one I had on hand that seemed to make the fit tighter. I'd be curious as to what you found on the one you received.

They do have a 30 day return window, takes 5 min to inspect it when you get it and call them to return it... I would roll the dice on that vs paying twice as much on others. Not every one has bags of money to burn through on projects.
