Minor issue with today's blood donation.

I have donated for over 30 years, with the exception of during COVID.

Today when they put the needle in me, the flow kept stopping and they had to adjust it. The person looking for my vein seemed to have trouble as well. Is it just because they had a bad vein, or is it because I can now be tagged as an antique? I don't think they even got a full pint. :|

I have also donated for over 30 years.
I've always hated the few times when they couldn't get a good flow and had to re-adjust the needle.

I now give what they call a Power Red donation.
It takes a little longer, but with a smaller needle, and they only allow you only donate three times a year instead of six.

They stopped handing out these pins quite a while ago, so this is the last one I received.

This is not meant to stir some pot of crap. Lot's of people give their blood and time and there is a small payment for that. Out of genuine curiosity, how much blood does a donator give to fill one of those bags used for a patient? And, does anyone know what the end user is charged for that bag?

I have never been paid for my blood, I think it's only for plasma that they do that.

The donor gives a pint of blood per donation. I have no clue what hospitals charge for the recipient, I just know that I'm doing what I can to help others, and it is also helping me by purging the iron from my blood (one of the key causes of heart attacks), and, keeping my BP down.

I went one time and the nurse had a problem with my big vein in arm pushing aside. She asked if she could use a small needle instead. Sure, I was there to give. I usually give to a Red Cross drive. I figured the Red Cross sells to hospitals to fund their other missions.
