After removing all of the old adhesive from my floor pan, I treated the surface rust with Ospho. I'd say 90% of the factory applied primer is still intact, even after using acetone and 3m adhesive cleaner. I did notice after getting the adhesive up and wiping the floor down with acetone to remove any residue that the rag started to turn the same color as the primer.
I feel pretty certain this is the factory applied primer because there is still quite a bit of glacier blue overspray.
So yesterday, the Ospho has been on for 24 hours, coming up on 36 now. I am really ready to apply the primer and get the new padding and carpet back in so I can get back on the road, but how should I proceed? The directions say to wire brush and wipe down the surface with solvent based cleaner, but I am worried about the Ospho causing the primer to fail. Should I rinse the floorpan with water? Water mixed with baking soda to neutralize the acid?
Advice from anyone who has used the two products would be greatly appreciated.
