I was ready to put a coat of primer on my 57 Sunday afternoon when I discovered I didn't have enough to make it worth the prep and clean up time. So yesterday I called and ordered another gallon of PPG Deltron 3055 and a quart of catalyst. I paid 185.00 about 6 or 7 months ago for this stuff. That price was a bit hard to take, but it fills and sands so nice.

When they showed up with it they handed me a bill for $305.00!!! They explained that the cost of shipping haz mat to Alaska has caused the prices to skyrocket.

I ended up buying a gallon of PPG K36 and catalyst for $225.00.

I was warned to be ready for another shock when it's time to buy color and clear.

At these prices, I am almost tempted to spray the car with the gallon of DP 90 that I bought before the prices went up.

What do you folks in the real world pay for this sort of product?

I just needed to vent a little. I wasn't ready to spent that kind of money just before a big expensive holiday.

Thanks for listening, Bill.

My last gallon of DPLF/activator was near $250.00
Yesterday, I went on Colorlibrary.com, and looked at the cost for DB color, and clear.
2K clear is $299 w/ hardener!!
860 reducer is $48.
DBC 2000 base, [blu metallic], is $420.
What a ripoff!

I am beginning to realize that I didn't have it so bad. It seems that the prices here, at least for paint and primer, are just beginning to catch up with the rest of the country.

Now if the temperature would come up some so I wouldn't have to set my shop thermostat so high. Then I would be able to spray some of this liquid gold on my car, sand it off, sweep it up, and put it in the trash can.

Bill.
